I didn't think I could ever suffer from "Fishtank envy" but I was wrong.I was called to meet Peter from Kent and discuss a maintenance programme for the biggest aquarium I have ever seen in someone's house. This 14 foot x 3 foot x 3 foot tropical set up for African Cichlids is a truly amazing sight. Including its sump, this aquarium has a volume of nearly 4,000 litres and some of the most amazing equipment I have ever seen, all hidden in a sump just as big and impressive as the main aquarium. I spent the first 10 minutes just sitting in silence staring at the aquarium in amazement.
They had been let down by a maintenance company before and when I was contacted, I couldn't wait to get involved. We sat down and discussed why this set up just wasn't looking as good as it should, simple things such as closer attention to feeding, larger water changes and more work on the sump to create more stable water chemistry and much less algae build up. The new regular maintenance has created cleaner water and saved money on food.
It really is amazing, the fish are some of the biggest and healthiest I have seen and I visit every month to service and maintain the system... and I love every second of it.
